HIVE ONE: BIG DATA

HOW DO YOU TRANSFORM YOUR BUSINESS WITH BIG DATA? BUILDING A FUTURE-READY BIG DATA BUSINESS CASE

Every day, 2.5 billion gigabytes of high-velocity data is created in a variety of forms, such as social media posts, information gathered in sensors and medical devices, videos and transaction records. Some may have viewed it as a fad, but data generated by people, processes and machines will only continue to grow. Big data is here to stay, and harnessing it is one of the ways you can transform your business and create a sustainable advantage over your competition.

In this Big Data Mind Hive we discuss what is possible with big data.  What can your business achieve? How do you choose where to start, and how do you build a case to take back to your business, to get it to happen now?

Through conducting surveys, studying analyst findings, talking with more than 300 customers and prospects and implementing hundreds of big data solutions, IBM has identified the top five high-value use cases that can be your first step into big data. Use cases such as addressing the need to identify new markets, safeguarding assets, optimising business process and improving customer understanding and acquisition.

Stewart Hanna, a big data expert responsible for delivering big data solutions with some of the world’s leading companies, will also take you through a white-board session, detailing business drivers, obstacles and considerations, and the planned outcomes of implementing a big data solution.

HIVE TWO: CUSTOMER ANALYTICS

GROW YOUR BUSINESS WITH INSIGHTS FROM ALL YOUR CONSUMER DATA

In the Age of the Empowered Consumer, customers no longer appreciate being treated uniquely, they expect it.  Consumers have the ability to research extensively before they purchase, comparing prices, products and services literally at their fingertips.  Next, they purchase and use the product or services, all the while sharing their experiences; likes, dislikes and interactions through multiple channels. Finally, if provided a positive experience, these consumers can become advocates, recommending purchases to their friends and family – initiating new lifecycles with new customers.

To stay competitive, organisations must integrate customer data from a variety of sources including marketing performance, customer feedback and social media comments to achieve a holistic view.  Using advanced analytics they can gain insight from this data, ensure this insight is available across the entire enterprise for the right people at the right time and ultimately turn insight into action.

THE RISE OF MOBILE APPS: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES

This session will discuss where mobile apps are now, some of the new business models that this technology is enabling and what challenges businesses need to overcome to reap business value from this new technology. HIVE FIVE: BUSINESS IN THE CLOUD

WALKING THE TALK ON BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION

Whatever the reason for reinventing your organisation, it's reassuring to talk with someone who's been there. If you're curious how IBM used Cloud to transform its own business, Steve Godbee will give you an open and honest account of their own cloud journey, sharing the insights they gleaned, the lessons learned and their plans for 2015 and beyond.

Steve will also provide some valuable insights from the newly released 2013 IBM Center for Applied Insights Global Cloud Study where IBM surveyed more than 800 cloud decision makers and users from around the world to learn how cloud is impacting their organisations.

To make the session highly interactive, Steve will seek the audience’s perspectives and feedback on those insights as well to provide a more localised view.

Insights include:

  • Cloud isn’t just an IT obsession. LOB’s strategic interest in cloud will soon surpass IT’s.

  • Pacesetting organisations are gaining competitive advantage from their high cloud adoption – and they have the business results to show for it.

  • They’re using cloud to differentiate through strategic reinvention, better decisions and smarter engagement.
